Creativity is wonderful, but still has a place in our education system the attention it. Into adulthood to outgrow our creativity and before we know everything we do with our heads and we lost our childish passions. Seriously? And, really. School systems are set up around 1900 om onze industrialiserende maatschappij te voorzien van geschikte arbeiders. Maar wat zijn geschikte arbeiders? Mijn dochter gaat nu net naar school. Echter over 50 jaar zal zij nog steeds gebruik maken van wat ze nu leert. Wat moet zij nu dan leren? Sir Ken Robinson licht deze gedacht op humoristische wijze toe in bijgevoegde TED.COM video. Een paar quotes:

“Kids will make mistakes. If they don’t know, they’ll give it a go. They are not affraid to make mistakes.”

En vooral in bedrijven regeert de angst fouten te maken. Dit hebben wij op school geleerd. Deze angst belemmert ons om met creatieve oplossingen te komen. Ik ervaar die angst ook, maar probeer de moed te vinden om tegen de stroom in te zwemmen. En ik kan je zeggen, dat dat niet makkelijk is.

Je kan haar natuurlijk ook met ADHD diagnosticeren en haar kinetische intelligentie en creativiteit onderdrukken. Of je kan haar zoals mijn ouders met mij gedaan hebben, haar op judo-les doen (Bedankt, pap, mam!).

Writer Elizabeth Gilbert talks about creativity in the attached video and how we look at them there in the west since the Renaissance. Creating the ultimate achievement of man puts enormous pressure on an artist. The ancient Greeks and Romans saw creativity as something that was inspired by demons or geniussen. So if you would be successful, came partly by your genius. This protects you against too big ego trips. Conversely, this approach also protects the lack of success.

His most famous book on the subject is also called “Flow”. Interestingly enough, he is the phenomenon Flow on the track when he was researching Creativity.
